THE WHISPER MAN
If you enjoy psychological thrillers that keep you guessing and make you slightly suspicious of every sound in your house, The Whisper Man on Netflix may be one to add to your list.
Based on the novel by Alex North, the movie follows a widowed father whose young son disappears shortly after they move to a new town. The investigation connects the abduction to a terrifying serial killer from the past—and to the father’s estranged dad, a retired detective who worked on the original case.
With Robert De Niro, Adam Scott, Michelle Monaghan, and Michael Keaton, the cast alone caught my attention. But what made the story more interesting to me was that underneath the mystery and suspense, it is also about grief, complicated family relationships, and the things people carry with them for many years.
It is dark, creepy, and definitely unsettling in places. The kind of movie that makes you listen a little more closely when the house becomes quiet.
I won’t share any spoilers, but I will say that it kept me interested until the end—and reminded me once again that sometimes the scariest stories are not only about what is hiding in the darkness, but also about what remains hidden inside people.
Have you watched The Whisper Man yet? If so, what did you think?
