Random Things I’ve Done (And Thought) Lately ✨
It’s Sunday early evening. I’m sitting in the solitude of the upper deck. Nobody else, just me, my cup of coffee, and my thoughts which are many these days.
The older I become, the more I realize how little control we have in life over basically almost everything. The only control we have is how we chose to respond to life’s situations.
Life has shifted a bit for us in a few ways. Right now, outside of my 9-5 pm job, I’m focusing on caring for my mother. I say caring because due to many health issues, she’s unable to care for herself. It’s a privilege, and an honor to be able to do that.
This week was a busy week for me, ordinary, and extraordinary at the same time.
✨ My mom had a doctor’s appointment. A follow up after a visit to immediate care which was quite a scary situation.
✨ A friend invited my mom and I to their house for breakfast. It was lovely in every way. People are so kind!
✨I had a few work meetings.
✨ My mom and I had some pretty awesome conversations.
✨ My mom started moving a little more than usual, which is great for her!
✨ I had a fitness/health related appointment, more on that later.
✨ I cooked a LOT this week, a LOT!
✨ We took Daisy (🐶) to the ER.
✨ I did a huge grocery haul and stocked up on fresh fruits, lots of veggies, meats, and some every day staples.
✨ I had some an awesome conversation with my eldest.
✨ Stan installed a hummingbird feeder on the deck, it’s soooo lovely!
✨ I went on a few walks.
✨ Talked to a couple friends on the phone.
✨ Went to church a few times.
✨ I cried (a little). I laughed (a lot).
And now, as the last day of the week is coming to an end, I am feeling nothing but gratefulness for the gift of seeing the extraordinary, in the ordinary.
I was listening to a song in Spanish this morning that quotes our life journey. And I thought about how true those words are.
No matter who we are, where we come from, the color of our skin, our financial status, degrees, etc… we all have a similar life journey because we all experience the same emotions: joy, hope, sadness, empathy, worries, struggles, compassion, achievements, and the labels and measures that separate us will eventually all fall away. The only thing that will remain is the truth that we are all human, sharing the same journey of life that begins and ends in the same way. It’s what we give, how we love, and the kindness we leave behind that makes the difference in between.
Well, that ended a bit deeper than I was intended for this blog post to be, lol! But, hey, that’s what makes thoughts and life so unique, right?
Be you, and be good to others! It really isn’t all that hard. Have a lovely week!!! ❤️
